Breve descrizione dei contenuti:
Given the potential impact on the general population of mpox, especially with human-to-human transmission being the predominant mode of spread, it is crucial to address the critical measures necessary to avoid repeating some of the mistakes made during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Although the current epidemiological trend does not suggest a recommendation for widespread mpox vaccination of the entire population, we believe that consideration should be given to vaccinating all healthcare personnel at higher risk of infection, especially those working in emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, primary care offices, outpatient phlebotomy centers, infectious disease and dermatology departments, and diagnostic laboratories, due to the high risk of exposure to patients with mpox or contaminated samples.
