Curriculum

Le principali linee di ricerca scientifica si concentrano sull'analisi della struttura e delle proprietà ottiche ed elettroniche di materiali otticamente attivi, con particolare attenzione ai materiali nanostrutturati. In particolare, l'attività di ricerca si focalizza sulla fabbricazione, funzionalizzazione (chimica e fisica) e caratterizzazione di nano-sistemi, tra cui nano-particelle e materiali micro/nano-porosi, destinati a applicazioni in drug delivery e diagnostica, soprattutto nel campo della NanoMedicina, ma anche in ambito ambientale.

Un aspetto fondamentale di questo studio riguarda l'analisi degli effetti di diverse nano-particelle (funzionalizzate in modo diverso e caricate con farmaci antitumorali e antinfiammatori) sulle cellule, attraverso esperimenti in vitro, nonché l'indagine delle reazioni immunologiche.

Un'altra linea di ricerca si dedica alla caratterizzazione strutturale e alla modellizzazione di vetri e materiali ceramici.

Tra le principali competenze tecnico-scientifiche nell'ambito della caratterizzazione dei materiali figurano:

  • Spettroscopia ottica (assorbimento, fluorescenza e PLE) e spettroscopia vibrazionale (Raman e FTIR)
  • Microscopia elettronica (TEM, SEM, AFM, ecc.)
  • Spettroscopia e diffrazione ai raggi X

The main areas of scientific research focus on the study of the structure and optical and electronic properties of optically active materials, with particular emphasis on nanostructured materials. Specifically, research activities concentrate on the fabrication, functionalization (chemical and physical), and characterization of nano-systems, including nanoparticles and micro/nano-porous materials, for applications in drug delivery and diagnostics, primarily in the field of Nanomedicine, but also in environmental contexts. A key aspect of this research involves investigating the effects of different nanoparticles (functionally modified and loaded with anticancer and anti-inflammatory drugs) on cells, through in vitro experiments, as well as the study of immunological reactions.

Another line of research focuses on the structural characterization and modeling of glasses and ceramic materials.

The main technical-scientific competencies in material characterization include:

  • Optical spectroscopy (absorption, fluorescence, and PLE) and vibrational spectroscopy (Raman and FTIR)
  • Electron microscopy (TEM, SEM, AFM, etc.)
  • X-ray spectroscopy and diffraction
