The project aims to develop an innovative solution for the automated monitoring of river water quality and the detection of pollutants originating from agricultural activities. By integrating autonomous robotics, low-cost environmental sensing technologies, and advanced artificial intelligence methods, the system will enable continuous, accurate, and sustainable data collection in the Trentino region and the Lake Garda area.

The proposed platform is based on an autonomous surface vehicle equipped with environmental sensors capable of detecting contaminants such as nitrogen compounds, mercury, and arsenic. Advanced navigation and predictive analytics algorithms will allow the vehicle to operate safely in dynamic environments, collect high-resolution spatio-temporal measurements, and promptly identify potential environmental anomalies.

The project is a collaboration between the Department of Computer Science of the University of Verona and A5 Srl, a company specialized in the monitoring of aquatic ecosystems. Its ultimate goal is to provide advanced technological tools for real-time environmental monitoring, water quality forecasting, and the promotion of more sustainable agricultural practices, contributing to the protection of freshwater ecosystems and water resources.
