The project is organized in four main activities (work packages) which are related to the following topics:
  1. WP1. Identification of the application scenario in the wine production field (identification of supply chain steps) where to apply the architecture. This WP is focused on the identification of the wine production supply chain to produce the specification for the development of the eEPC architecture.
  2. WP2. Identification of the critical points to be controlled and development of innovative technologies for their analysis Control points of the wine production supply chain are not completely identified nor defined. An important research activity is necessary to list these points and to develop innovative technologies for their measure.
  3. WP3. Study of an open-platform for networked embedded applications to apply RFID and WSN technologies to get information tracing. The open platform for the eEPC implementation must be thus identified and specified by taking under consideration its portability among a variety of portable embedded systems (e.g., PC, Tabled-PC, Palm, touch-screen, mobile terminal, etc).
  4. WP4. The design and the development of an embedded prototype for the information tracing based on open-source technologies. Previously identified solutions are here implemented into an open-source middleware used to monitor the entire wine production supply chain.
