The collaboration between Department of Computer Science and Exor International during 2004 is focused on the following topics:
- Timing-accurate co-simulation between the Ultimodule board and a SystemC model.
- Timing-accurate co-simulation between GNU/GDB and a SystemC model.
The first topic allows exactly measuring performance of programs running on Ultimodule and controlling any kind of applications. For example, the expected performance of a PLC software emulated on Ultimodule and controlling some machineries through heterogeneous field-bus.
The second topic aims at generating the co-simulation infrastructure to produce a purely software model of the Ultimodule platform. This software model allows a user to estimate performance of an application running on Ultimodule with a high degree of confidence and without being constrained to use a board.
